Note | Per granddaughter-in-law Julie Moore: 'Morris was born in Germany and moved to London, England to work for an accounting firm. Emigrated to US at the request of a cousin, Max Gottlieb, to work in his jewelry store in Pine Bluff, AR. Max was called 'Uncle Max' because he was older. He had 2 sons, one mentally impaired and one a 'wastrel', Joe Gottlieb. Max needed someone responsible to manage his store. Morris learned the jewelry business there. Moved to Wichita Falls, TX because Joe Gottlieb decided to work in his father's business. Moved to Frederick, OK (? reason) and met Maud Cottrell. They married in Wichita Falls, TX. 1914 - Florence Ravia born in Cooper, TX 1917 - Frederick Merledon born in Wichita Falls, TX Moved back to Pine Bluff AR to work again in Uncle Max's jewelry store. 1918- Bobbette born in Pine Bluff, AR He always wanted to be a doctor and was studying medicine with a local doctor. But he contracted TB and went to New Mexico because the climate was drier. 1920 - Address 104 West Green Street, Gallup, NM; Occupation: jeweler store owner (source: 1920 US Census, McKinley Co, NM ED 77, Sh3 Ln 9) His TB worsened and he moved to Albuquerque. 1924 - Address: 916 W. Marquette Ave. Albuquerque, NM He was admitted to the TB Sanitarium on Central Ave which was operated by Dr. Hannet. Dr. Hannet's brother was governor at the time. They gave Morris 6 months to live and he decided that he better make some money for the family. So, he left the TB Sanitarium and opened Gottlieb Jewelry Store in the 100 Block of West Central in Albuquerque, NM. His health improved and he continued to work in the jewelry business, retiring in 1947. 1937-1939 - Lived on Laguna Indian Reservation. He and another man opened the trading post on the reservation.
